Position Overview

As a Nursery Assistant, you will work in a childcare setting, providing support and assistance to nursery teachers and staff in the care and development of young children.   • Assist with diaper changing, toileting, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.

  • Help children develop social and interpersonal skills through positive interactions and guidance.

  • Observe and monitor children's behavior, progress, and developmental milestones.

  • Communicate with parents or guardians, providing updates on their child's activities and development.

  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and maintaining a safe and organised environment.


Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Basic understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children and parents effectively.

  • Ability to maintain a safe and secure environment for children.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs and demands of the children and the nursery.

  • Strong organisational skills to assist with managing daily routines and tasks.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.


Qualifications

  • School diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience working with young children in a nursery or childcare setting is desirable.

  • Basic knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.

  • CPR and first aid certification may be required in some jurisdictions.

  • Any additional certifications or training in early childhood education is a plus.
